A woman, identified as 18-year-old Tasnim al-Bsais from Deir Ez-Zour city was shot and killed on December 7, 2024, by the Syrian regime’s National Defense Militias, who opened fire indiscriminately to break up demonstrators who, in turn, were trying to stop the militias from looting public property in Deir Ez-Zour city. The area is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Syrian regime forces have violated international human rights law through this act of killing. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
