A man, identified as Mahmoud Hassan al-Hassan from Saqarja village, administratively a part of al-Qsair city in southern rural Homs governorate, was shot dead on November 5, 2024, by Syrian regime forces after they refused to return his seized house in his home village. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Mahmoud, who is a former employee at the Homs Electricity Company, recently returned to Syria from Lebanon after he had been originally displaced in 2013.
It should be also noted that Syrian regime forces have, through this act of killing, once again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
