On October 14, 2024, a US-led International Coalition forces artillery detachment, stationed in Kuniko Oil Field in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate, fired multiple shells at Mrat village in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate, injuring six civilians, including one woman. The area targeted is under the control of Syrian regime forces.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this attack, the US-led International Coalition has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
The Coalition has also violated the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and members, which only aims to spread panic among civilians.
