A man, identified as Ramadan Fatim al-Saleh from Swyedan Jazira village in eastern rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate, was shot and killed on October 9, 2024, by patrolmen with a patrol operated by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the US-led International Coalition who shot him when he tried to run away in the course of a raid on a house in Ramadan’s home village. Another man, identified as Bassel al-Faysal, was arrested in the raid. The area is under the control of the SDF.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this act of killing, the SDF and the US-led International Coalition forces have violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
