On September 11, 2024, a fire, caused by the explosion of a furnace, broke out in Marwan Yousef School, which is housing internally displaced persons (IDPs), in Hasaka city’s al-Salhiya neighborhood. A total of 11 civilians, including children, sustained burn injuries, with two of the injured currently in critical condition. The area is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) calls on international relief organizations to meet IDPs’ urgent basic needs.
