On August 15, 2024, a special-needs person, identified as Majd Ahmad Saleh al-Shalabi from Inkhil city in northern rural Daraa governorate, was killed, and another man, identified as Ahmad Qasem al-Khtaib also from Inkhil city, was critically injured by Syrian regime forces who shot the two as they were riding a motorbike on the road connecting Namar town and al-Hara city in northern rural Daraa governorate. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that both Majd and Ahmad are civilians who had never been involved with any military formation. It should be also noted that Syrian regime forces have, through this act of killing, have again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
