A boy, identified as Abdul Qader Fayez al-Haj from Sbaikhan city in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate, was shot and injured on August 9, 2024, by a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) sniper in Abdul Qader’s home city. The sniper was stationed in al-Jarthi village in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate on the opposite side of the Euphrates River to Sbaikhan city. Abdul Qader was transferred to a hospital for treatment. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that the SDF has violated international human rights law through targeting civilians. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
