A man, identified as Faraj Mustafa al-Ismail, died on June 15, 2024, of wounds sustained the day before, June 14, 2024, when he was severely beaten by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) personnel in a raid on his home village of Thahrat Remala to the southeast of Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. Faraj was transferred to Manbij City Hospital for treatment, but he subsequently succumbed to his injuries and died. The area is under the control of the SDF.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that the SDF has, through this killing, yet violated international human rights law yet again. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
