A girl, identified as eight-year-old Hour Mohammad Khalaf al-Doush, was shot dead on June 16, 2024, by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) personnel who were stationed in al-Hawayej village in eastern Deir Ez-Zour, while Hour was in her home city of al-Mayadeen in eastern rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate on the other side of the Euphrates River opposite the SDF personnel. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that the SDF has, through this killing, yet violated international human rights law yet again. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
