A man, identified as Alaa al-Khadr al-Daqmash, was killed on June 9, 2024, by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) patrolmen. Alaa was shot directly during a raid on his house in his home village of Darnaj village in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate, as he was trying to escape. Alaa was then taken to an undisclosed location, before the SDF returned his dead body to his family with signs indicating that he had been operated on. The area is under the control of the SDF.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Alaa al-Daqmash is a civilian who was not a member of any military formation. It should be also noted that, through this killing, the SDF has again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
