On May 19, 2024, the bodies of two men, identified as 19-year-old Ahmad Thaer al-Abbas and 24-year-old Ali Hosam al-Salem, were found bearing gunshot wounds by local residents near al-Rahil School in their home city of al-Sanamyin city in northern rural Daraa governorate. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Ahmad and Ali are civilians who had never been involved with any military formation.

SNHR has not yet been able to identify Ahmad’s and Ali’s killers as of this writing. The controlling force bear responsibility for identifying the killers.
