A man, identified as Majed Hussein al-Sahiman from al-Saqiya village in northeastern rural Suwayda governorate, died on May 6, 2024, of wounds sustained on November 6, 2023, when a war remnant of as yet unidentified source exploded near him while he was herding sheep in the badiya ‘desert’ of Hawie Hussein in northeastern Suwayda governorate. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that war remnants continue to pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives. We have released numerous reports on cluster munitions and other war remnants, calling for securing equipment to help local residents to safely dispose of the various explosive remnants.
