A man, identified as Nawwaf Haj Hussein al-Jneid, was killed on May 4, 2024, in an artillery attack by unidentified parties that targeted Nawwaf’s home village of al-Ghouz to the west of al-Bab city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. One of the shells hit the outskirts of the village, killing Nawwaf as he as he was herding sheep, while a boy sustained critical injuries in the same attack. The area is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) suspects that the source of the artillery attack was either Syrian regime forces or Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), considering that it originated from the direction of their territories. Investigations are still ongoing to identify the party responsible.
