On May 3, 2024, a fire, caused by a cooking gas leak, broke out in a tent in Karam Camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs), which is located in Kafr Safra village in the rural areas of Jendeires town, administratively a part of Afrin city, in northern Aleppo governorate. While no casualties were recorded, the tent was completely destroyed in the blaze and its contents were heavily damaged. The area is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) calls on international relief organizations to meet the IDP camps’ urgent basic needs, and to supply the camps’ administration with additional tents for emergencies.
