A man, identified as 18-year-old Ziad Nasser al-Hattab, a member of the tribes based in the badiya or desert area around  Suwayda, was killed on April 6, 2024, by the explosion of a war remnant of as yet unidentified source after he found it while herding sheep to the west of Theibeen town in southern rural Suwayda governorate. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that war remnants continue to pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives. We have released numerous reports on cluster munitions and other war remnants, calling for securing equipment to help local residents to safely dispose of the various explosive remnants.
