A girl, identified as Nour Fadel al-Ma’youf, was killed on March 17, 2024, by the explosion of a war remnant of as yet unidentified source. The remnant exploded inside the water tender she was in with her father in Ma’dan Ateeq village in western rural Deir Ez-Zour. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that war remnants continue to pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives. We have released numerous reports on cluster munitions and other war remnants, calling for securing equipment to help local residents to safely dispose of the various explosive remnants.
