A boy, identified as eight-year-old Rajab Abdullah al-Rajab, was killed while five other civilians were injured, one of them critically, on March 10, 2024, by a war remnant of as yet unidentified source that exploded while they were playing with it after finding it in agricultural land near al- Jee’a village in western rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The area is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights notes that war remnants continue to pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives. We have released numerous reports on cluster munitions and other war remnants, calling for securing equipment to help local residents to safely dispose of the various explosive remnants.
