A man, identified as 27-year-old Ibrahim al-Abd al-Attaya from al-Qouriya city in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate, was shot dead on March 2, 2024, by a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) patrolmen, while on his way to tend to his agricultural land in Jazrat al-Melaj village in western rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The patrolmen were pursuing a fugitive when they shot Ibrahim. The area is under the control of the SDF.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this killing, the SDF has again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
