On February 6, 2024, a motorbike bomb of as yet unidentified source exploded near al-Nowruz Roundabout in Afrin city in northern rural Aleppo governorate. The explosion injured four civilians, including one child, while a number of shops and civilian cars were damaged. The city is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses and survivors to obtain more information about the incident.

SNHR condemns all bombings targeting civilians and vital facilities. We call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities for protecting civilians in their areas, to investigate this incident, and to make the findings of the investigation known to the public. Syria will never have true stability without a genuine political transition process towards democracy within a fixed timetable.
