Two boys, identified as 10-year-old Ibrahim Mousa al-Rashid and five-year-old Abdullah al-Hassan al-Ahmad, were injured on February 5, 2024, by the explosion of war remnants of as yet unidentified source in al-Shamitiya village in western rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate. They were transferred to a hospital in Deir Ez-Zour city for treatment. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that war remnants continue to pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives. We have released numerous reports on cluster munitions and other war remnants, calling for securing equipment to help local residents to safely dispose of the various explosive remnants.
