On December 7, 2023, a fire, caused by an electrical malfunction, broke out in a tent housing internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Ali bin Abu Taleb camp near Sarmada city in northern rural Idlib governorate. Although no casualties were recorded, the tent and its contents were completely destroyed in the blaze. The area is under the control of armed opposition factions and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) calls on international relief organizations to meet the urgent basic needs of IDPs’ camps, and to supply the camps’ administration with additional tents for emergencies.
