On October 29, 2023, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), or drone, operated by a party whose identity we have not yet confirmed, but suspect was the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), bombed a house in Abu Hardoub town in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate, killing four civilians. This attack took place in tandem with ongoing clashes between the SDF and local Arab tribes in the town.

The area is under the control of the SDF. The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.

We condemn all killings of civilians and call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities for protecting civilians in their areas, to investigate this incident, and to make the findings of the investigation known to the public. Syria will never have true stability without a genuine political transition process towards democracy within a fixed timetable.
