A man, identified as Nouri Daham al-Hussein from Baslaja village in eastern rural Aleppo governorate who worked as a street vegetable vendor, was shot dead on October 23, 2023, by a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) sniper in Jub al-Dam village to the north of Qbasin town in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. The village is located on the dividing lines between areas under the SDF’s control and those under the control of armed opposition factions and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this and other acts of killing, the SDF has again violated international human rights law, and calls for the perpetrators to be held accountable.
