A man named Hussein al-Ahmad al-Shahit was killed on October 17, 2023, by a stray gunshot during clashes between Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Arab tribes in his home town of Abu Hamam in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The area is under the SDF’s control.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not yet been able to determine which party is responsible for Ahmad’s death. The warring forces bear responsibility for identifying his killers.
SNHR condemns these clashes. We call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and for victims to be compensated.
