A man, identified as Ahmad Thyab al-Jasim, was shot dead on October 12, 2023, by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) personnel near the Euphrates River in al-Shnan town in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The SDF personnel opened fire at the car he was in, killing him, and injuring another man identified as Adnan al-Ali. The area is under the control of the SDF.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that through this act of killing, the SDF has again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
