A man identified as Mustafa al-Mohammad, from Bash Dalki village in the southern rural areas of Ein al-Arab “Kobani” in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, was shot dead on September 22, 2023, by personnel from the Syrian National Army (SNA)’s Military Police who opened fire at a car Mustafa was in with four other civilians, including a woman, that was crossing from the areas under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into SNA-held areas. The personnel opened fire at the car after refusing to stop at the checkpoint they were manning, killing Mustafa.
The area is under the control of the SNA. The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this act of killing, the SNA has violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
