A 10-year-old girl, identified as Furat Uqba Shbat, was run over and killed on September 17, 2023, by a military vehicle affiliated with the Syrian regime’s 15th Division, while returning home from school in her hometown of al-Sheikh Miskeen in northern rural Daraa governorate.
The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces. The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Syrian regime forces have violated international human rights law through this killing. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
