The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has monitored the exodus of dozens of civilians, mostly women and children, fleeing the villages of Theyban, al-Shaheil, and al-Zer in eastern rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate on September 4, 2023, for the western bank of the Euphrates River, which is under the control of Syrian regime forces. Civilians are fleeing the ongoing clashes between Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Deir Ez-Zour Military Council backed by Arab tribes.

The clashes have been going on in the area, which is under the control of the SDF as it stands, since August 29, 2023.

SNHR condemns all killings and violations no matter which party is responsible. We call for bringing an immediate end to the fighting to ensure the safety of civilians in the area, and to prevent any further damage to civilian objects.
