An eight-year-old boy, identified as Yousef Mohammad al-Ne’ma, died on August 23, 2023, of wounds sustained on August 18, 2023, when an unidentified projectile fired by Syrian regime forces hit his family’s home in a southern neighborhood of al-Bab city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate during armed clashes between Syrian National Army (SNA) factions and Syrian regime forces. According to the regime forces, the projectile was a bullet casing.

The area is under the control of the SNA. The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this act of killing and similar ones, Syrian regime forces have violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
