A man, identified as Yassin Mohammad al-Amin, who was a member of al-Jheishat Tribe, was shot dead on August 10, 2023, by members of Ahrar al-Sham Movement (Freemen of the Levant), during a dispute between civilians and Ahrar al-Sham members at one of the group’s checkpoints in the Hraqat Tarhin area of eastern rural Aleppo governorate that devolved into an armed clash between the two sides, during which Yassin was shot in the head.
The area is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA). The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this and similar acts, the SNA has violated international human rights law, and emphasizes that the perpetrators must be held accountable.
