On June 22, 2023, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone, of unknown source targeted Salhab town in the western suburbs of Hama governorate, killing three civilians – two children and one woman – and wounding a number of others to varying degrees.
The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces. The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident. We call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities for protecting civilians in their areas, to investigate this incident, and to make the findings of the investigation known to the public. Syria will never have true stability without a genuine political transition process towards democracy within a fixed timetable.
The victims killed by the drone were identified as 12-year-old Muhsin Mohammad Ismail, his mother, 35-year-old Lama Mohammad Hassan, and a 10-year-old boy named Ali Muhsin al-Sheikh.
