On April 7, 2023, the bodies of 13 civilians from the al-Amour nomadic tribe, all bearing gunshot wounds, were found by locals collecting desert truffles in the Jabal al-Amour area near al-Sakhna city in the eastern suburbs of Homs. The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that the victims had been reported missing about 15 days before their bodies were found; they were also collecting desert truffles at the time of their disappearance.

The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces. While the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not yet been able to identify the killers, the controlling forces which bear responsibility for identifying and arresting the perpetrators of this crime, have yet to launch any investigation into the case, which increases suspicions of their involvement.
