Ammar Mustafa al-Mustafa, a 25-year-old resident of Raqqa city, was shot dead on March 12, 2023. by personnel at a checkpoint operated by the Syrian regime’s Hajana forces and Military Security personnel in the Masaken al-Umran neighborhood in Hasaka city. Ammar was shot after he got lost while driving and accidentally entered a security zone.

The area where the killing took place is under the control of Syrian regime forces. The Syrian Network for Human Rights notes that, through this act of killing, Syrian regime forces have violated the international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
