Eissou Rahmou Urabou, a 14-year-old boy from Bashmra village, which is administratively part of the Nahiyat Shiraou in the suburbs of Afrin city, northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate, was killed on January 29, 2023, by a landmine whose source we have not been able to identify while he was herding sheep in agricultural land near Bashmra village, which is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information.

We call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas, and locate and remove landmines planted in these areas.

We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from the explosion of landmines, which pose a long-term, serious threat that will last for years to come, especially on children.
