Anwar Fteih, the head of the Nurses Union of Deir Ez-Zour city, where he works as a nurse at the city’s ‘COVID’ hospital, was abducted on January 26, 2023, by gunmen we have not yet been able to identify, n a raid on the Nurses Union headquarters in the al-Ma’amel area of northern Deir Ez-Zour city. He was taken to an undisclosed location.

The area is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The Syrian Network for Human Rights has not been able to identify the party behind his abduction as of this writing. We condemn all abductions and arbitrary arrests.
