The body of a seven-year-old girl, identified as Shahd Assad al-Ghnami from al-Sayyal village in the suburbs of al-Boukamal village in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate, was found on January 18, 2023, by local residents inside an abandoned house in al-Masaken area of al-Boukamal city, bearing burn wounds and signs of torture.

The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces. The Syrian Network for Human Rights has not yet been able to identify the party responsible for her death.
