Abdul Karim al-Mazzi died on January 13, 2023, at the age of three months from malnutrition and a lack of essential post-natal care in al-Rukban IDP camp on the Syrian-Jordanian border in the eastern suburbs of Homs governorate, where he was born and where his family had fled from the city of Tadmur, also in the governorate’s eastern suburbs.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights has, on numerous occasions, shed light on the crippling siege that has been imposed on the camp by Syrian regime forces for years, with regime forces preventing anyone from entering or leaving the camp, as well as on the inhumane conditions there.

SNHR urges international relief groups to act urgently to meet the basic needs of IDPs in camps, especially al-Rukban IDPs camp.
