On Wednesday, January 4, 2023, a rainstorm hit al-Rukban IDPs Camp in the eastern suburbs of Homs governorate near the Jordanian-Syrian borders, with the rainwater that flooded at least 65 percent of the residents’ mud homes damaging their furniture and scant food supplies s. The rainstorms also left large pools of wastewater and mud around the camp due to the lack of any sewer system or drainage network there.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) calls on the Amman-based UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and international humanitarian organizations to urgently respond to the crisis caused by the rainstorm and to secure alternative housing and heating materials for the displaced, and provide channels for rainwater drainage outside the camp
