Mohammad Abdul Rahman al-Houshan and Eyad Eissa al-Zoubi, from al-Tayba village in the eastern suburbs of Daraa governorate, were shot dead on December 2 by gunmen whose identity we have not been able to identify yet in an agricultural land located in southern al-Tayba village, which is under the control of Syrian regime forces.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
Notably, Mohammad, aged 46, was the mukhtar of al-Tayba village, while Eyad, aged 39, was one of the people who had agreed to security settlements with the Syrian regime.
We condemn all acts of killing targeting civilians. We call on the controlling parties to uphold their responsibilities for protecting civilians living in areas under their control, and to launch an investigation into this incident and make its details known to the public. Syria will never have true stability without a true political transition process to implement democracy under a concrete timetable.
