Ahmad Mohammad al-Zu’bi, boy aged 8, and his uncle Ahmad al-Zu’bi, aged 37, from al-Mleiha al-Sharqiya, eastern suburbs of Daraa governorate. They were shot dead on November 18, 2022, by gunmen we have been not able to identify yet who opened fire at their car on the road connecting al-Mleiha al-Sharqiya in eastern Daraa governorate and Samma village in Suwayda governorate. Ahmad’s father and other uncle were critically injured in the attack as well. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.

We condemn all acts of killing targeting civilians. We call on the controlling parties to uphold their responsibilities for protecting civilians living in areas under their control, and to launch an investigation into this incident and make its details known to the public. Syria will never have true stability without a true political transition process to implement democracy under a concrete timetable.
