Hazza’ Khalil al-Hazza’, from Abdin village, southern Idlib governorate, died on November 16, 2022, of wounds sustained on November 15, 2022, when a landmine, whose source has not yet been identified, exploded as he was working in an agricultural land in Abdin village, which is controlled by Syrian regime forces.

SNHR is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain information about the incident.

We call on the controlling parties to uphold their responsibilities to protect civilians living in areas under their control, to disclose the locations of landmines, and to work on properly removing them.

We have documented hundreds of deaths and injuries resulting from landmine explosions, with these mines continuing to pose a serious threat to the lives of residents, especially children, that will last for years.
