Mer’ie Hamdan al-Dab’an, from al-Qasr village, northwestern Suwayda village, aged 25. He was killed on November 2, 2022, by a landmine whose source has not been identified so far in Be’r al-Akl area (desert area), northeastern Suwayda governorate. The area is under the control of Syria nregime forces.

SNHR is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain information about the incident.

We call on the controlling parties to uphold their responsibilities to protect civilians living in areas under their control, to disclose the locations of landmines, and to work on properly removing them.

We have documented hundreds of deaths and injuries resulting from landmine explosions, with these mines continuing to pose a serious threat to the lives of residents, especially children, that will last for years.
