Sheikhmous Abdul Rahman Khalil Jafou, a 15-year-old middle school student from Midan Akbs village, which is administratively affiliated with Afrin city in northern Aleppo governorate, was abducted on October 30, 2022, by the SDF’s al-Shabiba al-Thawriya ‘’Joanne Schurchkar’ (Revolutionary Youth) for the purpose of conscription, from his place of residence in Aleppo city’s al-Sheikh Maqousd neighborhood. He was taken to an SDF recruitment center.
SNHR notes that Sheikhmous’ family was not notified of his arrest, or allowed to contact or visit him. We have concerns that he will be thrust into direct and indirect military acts.
It should be noted that roughly 213 children are currently conscripted in SDF military training camps.
