Yazan Sami, an eight-year-old boy internally displaced from Hama city, was killed on October 8, 2022, by the explosion of a landmine planted by an unidentified source in al Suwai’ya village of al Boukamal city in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate, which is controlled by the Syrian regime forces.

SNHR is still trying to reach out to witnesses to the incident for more details.

SNHR calls on the controlling forces to protect civilians in areas under its control and reveal the location of landmines and remove it.

We have documented hundreds of deaths and injuries due to explosions of mines, which will continue to constitute a threat to the civilians in these areas, especially children, for years to come.
