Asfar al Matra, from Sour town in Deir Ez-Zour governorate northern suburbs was shot and killed on October 4, 2022 by unidentified gunmen when he was in al Jasemi village in Sour town, which is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

SNHR is still trying to reach out to witnesses for more details on the incident.

SNHR condemns all killings of civilians and calls on the controlling forces to assume their responsibility for protecting the civilian population in areas under their control and to launch an investigation into this incident and reveal its conclusions to the public.

There will be no stability in Syria without a genuine political transition process moving towards democracy, implemented according to a set timetable.
