Fixed-wing warplanes, which we believe were Russian, fired missiles on a military base for al Ezza Army, an armed opposition faction, in al Bardaqli region in Idlib governorate’s northern suburbs on September 27, 2022. The military base is located 150m away from several IDPs camps that are spread in the region, including Kafr Lusin Camp and al Amal Camp.
The shrapnel from the bombardment wounded four civilians on the main road near the base in the area. In addition, the bombardment caused panic and terror among the IDPs, especially students, in the camps, as the missile strike was around school hours.
SNHR condemns all bombardment on civilian areas and vital facilities and surrounding areas by the Syrian regime forces and Russian forces.
On the other hand, SNHR notes that al Ezza Army military base was located in the area before several camps were set around it. However, this doesn’t absolve these forces of their responsibilities to move their headquarters away from areas that have become crowded with displaced people. The military base must be moved as soon as possible, and the victims should be compensated.
