A child from al Shaheil city in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate, born in 2006, Muhammad Jasem al Muhammad al Jadi, was arrested by Syrian Democratic Forces personnel for conscription on July 23, 2022, as he passed a checkpoint in the city, and taken to a recruitment center in Deie Ez-Zour governorate.

SNHR notes that the child’s parents have not been informed of his whereabouts, and he hasn’t been allowed to contact his family, who are also forbidden from visiting him. We fear he may be forced to participate directly or indirectly in military operations, and confirm that around 197 children are still conscripted in Syrian Democratic Forces recruitment camps.
