Syrian Democratic Forces arrested 3 civilians from al Tayana village in Deir Ez-Zour eastern suburbs, on July 20, 2022 for conscription, after they passed through a temporary SDF checkpoint in the village, and taken them to recruitment centers in Deir Ez-Zour governorate.

SNHR notes that their families have not been informed of their whereabouts, and they haven’t been allowed to contact their families. We fear they may be forced to participate directly or indirectly in military operations.

SNHR calls for financial and psychological restitution for all victims, as well as for an end to all arbitrary detention and for the fate of thousands of individuals forcibly disappeared by Syrian Democratic Forces to be revealed. We note that these arrests are carried out with the objective of spreading fear and terror in the community and blackmailing the detainees’ families. We have additional, well-founded fears for their wellbeing due to the spread of COVID-19.
