A sixteen-year-old- child, Moumen Hamad al Sham, from al Mashlab neighborhood in Raqqa city, was arrested by Syrian Democratic Forces personnel for conscription on July 22, 2022, as he passed a checkpoint in al Mashlab neighborhood in the city, and taken to a recruitment center in Raqqa governorate.

SNHR notes that the child’s parents have not been informed of his whereabouts, and he hasn’t been allowed to contact his family, who are also forbidden from visiting him. We fear he may be forced to participate directly or indirectly in military operations, and confirm that around 197 children are still conscripted in Syrian Democratic Forces recruitment camps.
