Nawaf Ali al Eisa, from Ras al Ein city in northwestern Hasaka governorate, born in 2000, was arrested by Syrian Democratic Forces’ personnel on July 20, 2022, as he passed a checkpoint in Tal Tamr town northwest of Hasaka governorate for conscription, and taken him to a recruitment center in Hasaka governorate.

SNHR notes that his family has not been informed of his arrest, and he haven’t been allowed to contact his family, who are also forbidden from visiting him. We fear he may be forced to participate directly or indirectly in military operations.

SNHR calls for financial and psychological restitution for all victims, as well as for an end to all arbitrary detention and for the fate of thousands of individuals forcibly disappeared by Syrian Democratic Forces to be revealed. We note that these arrests are carried out with the objective of spreading fear and terror in the community and blackmailing the detainees’ families. We have additional, well-founded fears for their wellbeing due to the spread of COVID-19.
